Silvie Hessová a Anna Brousková: V houslistce z ukrajinského krytu jsem viděla Almu
Alma Rosé. Nadaná vídeňská houslistka a dirigentka, neteř skladatele Gustava Mahlera, věřila v nesmrtelnou sílu hudby až do poslední vteřiny. Polozapomenutou oběť holocaustu uvedl do povědomí českých diváků v roce 2018 Zdeněk Geist, autor monodramatu Piš mi. Tvoje Alma. S nápadem na původní českou inscenaci pak přišla houslistka a producentka Silvie Hessová. Pod hlavičkou pražského divadelního souboru BodyVoiceBand vznikla inscenace …because of Alma, která propojuje komorní činohru s klasickou hudbou v živém podání ženského smyčcového tělesa Alma Ansámbl. Premiéru měla 3. listopadu 2022.
March 26, 2024Five theatre experiences in 2023: Man versus perverse power
The year 2023 once again brought many experiences from the auditoriums of small and large stages, festivals of professional and amateur theatres of all kinds and genres. It is not easy to choose the five most impressive ones, and certainly not everything that comes to mind when I look back at the year that has just ended will fit into this list. However, it is no coincidence that all five revolve around a single theme, and that is man confronted with the monstrosity of degenerate power.
August 18, 2023Antonia Forman: Sometimes current topics are too fresh and fragile for me. I'm afraid to touch them
As a student at DAMU she won the Czech Lion for the film Occupation and last year she shone in the film The Boundaries of Love. Antonie Formanová, the granddaughter of Oscar-winning director Miloš Forman, is indeed an interesting personality full of laughter and joy, but paradoxically she is more often seen in serious roles. What is the job of a young actor, why did she refuse to act in the film The Limits of Love at first and prefers film or theatre?
April 25, 2023Review: Only You, Music and Death
There are quite a few people who have come across Alma Mahler's name. But who knows the name, let alone the life story of Alma Rosé, the niece of her husband Gustav Mahler? Probably only those who have visited the theatre production ...because of Alma, which is signed by a trio of women: the project's inspirer and musical director Silvie Hessová, the scriptwriter Martina Kinská and the director Jaroslava Šiktancová. Thanks to them, the riveting story of the famous violinist is brought closer to the public in an equally riveting performance by the BodyVoiceBand.
March 22, 2023When it's a game of life. The story of violinist Alma Rosé stirs emotions in Venus in Švehlovka
Since last November, the Prague theatre ensemble BodyVoiceBand together with the musical ensemble Alma Ansámbl have been presenting the production ...because of Alma on the stage of Venuše in Švehlovka. It was initiated by Silvia Hess, violinist and co-founder of the aforementioned musical ensemble. Jaroslava Šiktancová, whose work is characterised by the interconnection of theatre and music, took over the direction. The original text was written by one of the leading contemporary playwrights, Martina Kinská. The fact that it was a happy meeting for the dramatic story is evidenced by the sold-out performances. By the end of this season, the company will have only four more performances, on 14 and 15 April and 22 and 23 May.
